What Is the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)?

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), also referred to as the Indian Justice Code, is India’s new criminal code. It officially replaced the Indian Penal Code effective 1 July 2024.
It was passed by Parliament in December 2023 and received the President’s assent on 25 December 2023
